FAQs

What should I write about in my post?

Feel free to include whatever you want, as long as the subject matter is related to sports tech and diversity! Here are some ideas:

  • The importance of racial and gender representation in careers

  • How what you heard or read relates to your own personal experiences as a young woman interested in sports tech

  • How you you think an organization like WiST can help bridge gaps in sports tech

  • A new industry, company or job role you learned more about and that interests you

  • A piece about a single product, invention, or service in sports tech that you are interested in, and the ways that having a diverse team create or manage the product might create a better outcome for the business

How long should my post be?

We don't have a specific limit on the post length, but diversity is an important topic, so we would love for you to be as insightful as possible! You have a month to complete the project and that's a lot of time to reflect and research issues of representation and empowerment in sports tech! To answer the question, though, let's try and make the post at least two to three solid paragraphs, if not longer! :)

As a part of this project, can I explore other forms of diversity in sports tech, like racial equity?

We definitely encourage you to learn about diversity in sports tech as a whole, so if you want to touch on racial justice or LGBTQ+ representation in your post, please feel free to do so! We look forward to finding out what you are passionate about!

Wait! What’s LinkedIn again?

In case you're not familiar with it, LinkedIn is an important professional networking site. Many employers refer to applicants' LinkedIn pages to learn more about them.

What should I do if I I’m not on LinkedIn?

It’s easy and free to create a LinkedIn profile. The infographic on this page will walk you through it. Once you create your profile, you can add your post. You can also like/follow our WiST page and other companies that you are interested in learning more about in the future. 

What if I really really don’t want to make a LinkedIn profile?

No worries! You can post on Medium (free). Another option? You can create a multi-slide infographic on Instagram instead! Just don’t forget to tag #WiSTNextGen, #WiST and #ChangetheRatio in your post! If you are creating an Insta post, you can use canva.com (free) to get started!
